Is it better to watch a film at home or at the cinema?

On the one hand, cinemas provide a level of immersion impossible elsewhere through the large screen, surround sound, darkened room and lack of external distraction. These, in addition to the collective nature of the audience, all serve to heighten audience response: kinaesthetic, visceral and emotional. However, home provides comfort and informality to the viewer not typically associated with the big screen. You can take a break whenever necessary, though this isn't necessarily a good thing as it disrupts the structure (and therefore, the immersion). In conclusion, I believe that for the most fulfilling viewing experience, a cinema is preferable, seeing as most (if not all) films are intended for the big screen. It is certainly far more exciting, offering a full experience and break from the normal.
